A panoramic glass roof is a lovely thing until the sunshade underneath it starts to sag, stick or peel. Because the blind lives directly under glass, it cooks in summer and the foam behind its fabric breaks down years before the rest of the interior. When it goes, most owners get one answer from the dealer: a complete new roof cassette, at a four-figure price that feels absurd for what looks like a bit of drooping cloth.

Runners and edges are tidied at the same time so the blind travels smoothly again. Blind removed and assessed
The blind or sunshade comes out of the roof cassette and we inspect the frame, runners and fabric. Most problems come down to failed fabric bonding or worn guides rather than a broken mechanism.

Re-covered or repaired
Sagging or peeling fabric is stripped back and the blind is re-covered in new material, matched as closely as possible to your original headlining. Damaged edges and fixings are sorted at the same time.

Refitted and checked
The blind goes back into the roof, is run through its full travel, and the surrounding trims and headlining edges are refitted cleanly before handover.

Why has my panoramic sunroof blind sagged or come loose?
The same reason headlinings sag. The blind is a fabric-covered panel or roller, and heat cycles through the glass break down the foam and adhesive behind the fabric. The glass roof concentrates heat, so blinds often fail sooner than the rest of the headlining. It is an age and heat problem, not something you caused.
The dealer says I need a whole new cassette. Is that the only option?
Often not. Dealers rarely repair blinds; they swap the complete roof cassette, which is why quotes of well over a thousand pounds are common on owner forums. If the glass and mechanism are sound and the problem is the blind fabric or its edges, re-covering the original blind is usually possible for a fraction of that.

My blind is jammed or has come off its runners. Can you help?
Usually yes. Jams are often caused by the sagging fabric fouling the runners, or by worn guide clips, and freeing the blind and re-covering the fabric puts it right. If the motor or cassette frame itself has failed we will tell you honestly, because that is a different repair.
How much does a panoramic sunroof blind repair cost?
